Photo of cypress trees growing in the Suwannee River

Cypress trees grow in the edge of the banks of the upper Suwannee River. Sometimes the roots are left bare when the water has washed away the soil. At other times the roots might be covered by the ever shifting sand bars. Flood waters and river current change the appearance of the river banks often.
